Parley Place Care Home - Centre of Excellence

This important contract involved the construction of a new two storey 68-bed care home along Christchurch Road in West Parley. The home offers nursing care for elderly, frail and memory care residents including; day and dining facilities, communal spaces and other functional accommodation. Registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Parley Place provides 24-hour care and support meeting residential, nursing and dementia care needs, including end of life and palliative care.

The ground floor foyer includes a café area and the hair salon. A cinema, activity room, family room and private dining areas will be available on the first floor.

Each spacious floor includes two main lounge and dining areas for residents to enjoy and the main kitchen, staff areas, plant room maintenance store and laundry facilities will make up the back of house areas.

The building design incorporates a mix of red multi and blue feature brickwork, Marley Cedral cladding, aluminium detailing with grey uPVC windows, spandrel panels and curtain walling with brise soleil.

External works included; demolition of the existing small stable block, diversion of local authorities sewer, an enlarged site entrance, circulation road, staff and visitor parking, foul and storm water drainage, hard landscaping with site features and furniture, a scooter and cycle store, bin store, boundary treatments, soft landscaping and all incoming installations.

Parley Place is the fourth contract to be delivered on behalf of Barchester and we were very proud that this home was chosen to be showcased as the ‘centre of excellence’ demonstrating the benchmark in which all other care homes are to be set. This achievement was celebrated with a special open day.
