Upton Bay Care Home is the 3rd project delivered on behalf of repeat client Barchester.
This contract involved the design and construction of a luxury 68-bed, 3-storey care home along Hoyal Road in Hamworthy, Poole and showcased the largest marketing suite that Acheson have delivered to date.
This vital new facility offers high-quality residential care services, as well as dedicated dementia care for its residents in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Community. It will boost employment in the neighbouring areas and go a step further in meeting the demand for high-quality care in Poole.
Following a successful contract delivery and fantastic group performance, the client personally requested that the same team deliver Barchester’s next development in West Parley, Christchurch.

Following handover in 2022, in February 2023, the carehome.co.uk Care Awards named Upton Bay in their Top 20 for homes in the South-West. The Care Home Awards highlight the most recommended Care Homes in each UK region and were based on over 55,000 reviews and recommendations received from residents and their family and friends between February 2014 to February 2023. A big congratulations to Barchester for this award.
